As Singapore Runs Hotter Than Normal Through Mid-2026, Demand for Heat-Reducing Window Solutions Is Rising

softhome reports rising interest in solar window film and blinds as NEA forecasts above-average temperatures for June to August 2026

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, October 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) has forecast below-average rainfall and above-average temperatures for June to August 2026, with June already coming in 1.6 degrees Celsius above its monthly normal and daily highs reaching 34 degrees Celsius. The warmer stretch follows a March 2026 advisory in which NEA flagged daily highs of 35 to 36 degrees Celsius alongside smoke haze risk, part of a longer-term trend – Singapore's annual mean temperature has risen by 0.24 degrees Celsius per decade since 1984, prompting the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment to designate 2026 the Year of Climate Adaptation. Against that backdrop, home and office fit-out specialist softhome says it has seen sustained demand for heat-reducing window films and blinds among Singapore homeowners looking to manage indoor heat without relying solely on air-conditioning.

softhome's solar window film range is designed to reduce glare and heat transfer through glass while protecting furniture and flooring from sun damage, without blocking natural light. The company pairs this with a wider range of curtains, blinds and wallcoverings, including its Hunter Douglas^® partnership, to help households manage both temperature and light across different rooms and orientations.

"We're getting more enquiries from homeowners asking specifically about heat, not just style," said Representative of softhome. "A west-facing living room in a Singapore high-rise can get genuinely uncomfortable by late afternoon, and a lot of people don't realise solar film or the right blind material can make a measurable difference before they even think about running the air-conditioning harder."

softhome offers island-wide measuring and installation across its range of over 180 designs, with pricing that varies by material, room size and installation complexity. The company recommends homeowners book a measurement appointment to get an exact quote based on their specific windows and orientation, rather than relying on generic online estimates.

softhome has previously been featured in Zaobao 联合早报 and SquareRooms magazine for its work in the local soft furnishings space.
