Turkish Petroleum, Chevron Forge Energy Partnership

(MENAFN) National energy firm Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) and American oil corporation Chevron have formalized a memorandum of understanding to explore potential cooperation in oil and natural gas exploration and production, according to Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. The announcement was made on Thursday.

"With this Memorandum of Understanding, we aim to develop joint projects both in Türkiye and on an international scale," Alparslan Bayraktar stated on Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

Bayraktar noted that these international ventures would complement ongoing operations in the Gabar field in southeastern Türkiye, as well as activities in the Black Sea. He also emphasized that the collaboration would support Turkish Petroleum’s ambition of transforming into a global company capable of producing 1 million barrels.

"We will soon sign new agreements for different international partnerships and share the concrete projects we have implemented with our nation," he added.

This latest accord comes after a previous memorandum of understanding between Turkish Petroleum and ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, ESSO Exploration International Limited. That earlier agreement focused on new exploration zones in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, along with other prospective areas.
